I know, I know what you're thinking. C.R., you pretty much abandon this blog as is already. Why in the world would you add another category?

Well, it's become a massive part of my life since March, and again, this blog is just as much for me as it is for you. I want to document my journey. Thus, the category "Fitness" was born.

Let the documenting start!

I'm not going to lie, 2015 me would have laughed if someone told me that fitness would become part of my life. I much preferred to sit on my bum and vege out watching Netflix or YouTube all day.

Now? Well, I can't get enough of the gym and working out.

So how did I go from one extreme to the other? Well, I guess it's story time.

The church community that I am part of at my uni has given me so many friends. I'm closer with some people than others. Turns out, one of the people I've gotten fairly close with is an exercise science major.

For the first half of the semester, my friend was always bugging me to go work out with him just once.  (He's also a certified personal trainer.) I was really stressed with uni work and could not be bothered at all.

The weekend we left for spring break, I promised him that I would go work out with him once before the end of the academic year.

His exact words: "I'll believe it when I see it."

I heard that as a challenge and decided that very day that I was going to go work out with him as soon as we were back from spring break.

And I did.

And I LOVED it.

See, I had been a competitive dancer for years, but I had had to stop because my knees. It felt good to be doing something again. I felt better, and it was just all in all a good choice for me.

2 months later, I've worked out at least 2 times a week, and I'm really proud of myself. I've come far in hardly time at all.

More to come, and I'm happy you're taking this journey with me!

  1. I better go work out too. I just started jogging with my friend. But I want to try something more like going to gym. Hmm but I have this problem that I easily get tired after a strenuous work, maybe I should train my body because of that.
    Have a nice day, C.R!

    1. Fiona, definitely take it in bits and pieces! I think one of the most important things is to recognize and accept the fact that when we are first starting out that everything is going to take time! xx
